The transfer window closed and the first round of the qualifiers for Euro 2016 — for which everyone seems to qualify — was put to bed, which meant it was time for Week 4 of the English Premier League.

This week’s round of fixtures started off with two of the Big 4 as Manchester City headed to London to take on Arsenal. It was almost a dream start for Arsenal’s new signing Danny Welbeck as he pounced on a stray back pass that put him through on goal, only to watch his chip over Joe Hart come back off the post. Arsenal would go ahead 2-1 thanks to goals from Wilshere and Sanchez only to see Demichelis tie it up in the 84th minute, giving City their share of the points.

Elsewhere in London it was the battle of the unbeaten as Chelsea played host to Swansea City. The visitors went ahead early thanks to a John Terry own goal which seemed to anger Diego Costa as he went on to bag his first Premier League hat trick. Chelsea would go on to win 4-2 keeping their 100 percent record intact.

The only other London fixture on the bill saw Crystal Palace host Burnley. While Palace had the better of the chances in the first half and should probably have gone ahead, Burnley held strong and were given a golden opportunity in the 84th minute to take all three points when they were awarded a penalty. Scott Arfield stepped up only to see his effort saved by Julian Speroni, keeping the score at 0-0.

London club Tottenham traveled north to take on Sunderland in a game that saw two goals in the first four minutes from Nacer Chadli and Adam Johnson, respectively. Tottenham would take the lead early in the second half thanks to a Christian Eriksen goal and should have scored more. They were denied by both Vito Mannone and the woodwork and, in the 82nd minute, Harry Kane scored an own goal to level the score at 2-2.

Hotspur boss Pochettinos’ old team Southampton did finish their chances against Black Cats rivals Newcastle as they ran out 4-0 home winners with two goals from Graziano Pelle in the first half matched by goals by Jack Cork and Morgan Schneiderlin in the second half. The result only added more misery to Newcastles poor start to the season and makes Pardew the favorite to be the first managerial causality of the season.

Elsewhere around the league, Aston Villa continued their good start to the season as they held on after an early Gabriel Agbonlahor goal to beat Liverpool 1-0 at Anfield. The scoreline was the same at Britaniana Stadium where visitors Leicester City continued their impressive start to the season taking all three points against hosts Stoke City take to a 64th minute goal from summer signing José Ulloa.

The final game on Saturday saw Everton visit West Brom. Romelu Lukaku had spent a successful loan spell at West Brom two season ago and quickly reminded the home fans of his qualities by giving his new team the lead within the first two minutes. Fellow Belgian Kevin Mirallas would go on to add a second in the 66th minute as Everton came away with all three points.

Sunday featured only one game as the new look Manchester United played host to QPR. All of the new Galacticos were on display, although Falcao would have to wait until the 67th minute to make his debut, and they brought their manager Van Gaal his first win of the season by a 4-0 margin. While QPR didn’t provide the greatest of opposition, the United fans could not be bothered as Old Trafford was in full voice as if the season so far and all of last season had never happened.

The final game of the round of fixtures saw West Ham United twice come back to tie host Hull City 2-2.
