This post originally appeared on www.GoUpper90.com This week’s round of English Premier League games provided us with the full gamut of classic football moments from club legends scoring against their old teams to underdogs snapping victory from the jaws of defeat and the introduction of some new tech savvy ones. Of the six games played on Saturday half of them resulted in draws including one at Turf Moor where Burnley played host to Sunderland. Neither team has managed register a win yet this season and although it would end 0-0 both saw opportunities in the second half come off the woodwork. QPR welcomed old boss Mark Hughes and Stoke City to Loftus Road and the Potters may feel disappointed they weren’t able to come away with all 3 points. Ahead 2-1 in the 88th minute Hughes could only watch as Niko Kranjcar curled a freekick in the back of the net to tie it up at 2-2. At St. James Park it was the current boss who was getting a welcome from the home fans and it wasn’t of the warmest variety. With many of the home fans display SackPardew.com banners and the manager rumored to be replacing him if he does get the sack on the Hull City bench, Alan Pardew was in desperate need of a Newcastle win. Things were not looking good for him as his team was down 2-0 midway through the second half thanks to top class strikers from Nikica Jelavic and Mohamed Diame. Some relief would come for Pardew as substitute Papiss Cisse, who hadn’t scored in 6 months, grabbed a brace and a share...

This post originally appeared on www.GoUpper90.com The transfer window closed and the first round of the qualifiers for Euro 2016 — for which everyone seems to qualify — was put to bed, which meant it was time for Week 4 of the English Premier League. This week’s round of fixtures started off with two of the Big 4 as Manchester City headed to London to take on Arsenal. It was almost a dream start for Arsenal’s new signing Danny Welbeck as he pounced on a stray back pass that put him through on goal, only to watch his chip over Joe Hart come back off the post. Arsenal would go ahead 2-1 thanks to goals from Wilshere and Sanchez only to see Demichelis tie it up in the 84th minute, giving City their share of the points. Elsewhere in London it was the battle of the unbeaten as Chelsea played host to Swansea City. The visitors went ahead early thanks to a John Terry own goal which seemed to anger Diego Costa as he went on to bag his first Premier League hat trick. Chelsea would go on to win 4-2 keeping their 100 percent record intact. The only other London fixture on the bill saw Crystal Palace host Burnley. While Palace had the better of the chances in the first half and should probably have gone ahead, Burnley held strong and were given a golden opportunity in the 84th minute to take all three points when they were awarded a penalty. Scott Arfield stepped up only to see his effort saved by Julian Speroni, keeping the score at 0-0. London...

This post originally appeared on www.GoUpper90.com Sandwiched between the Champions League Draw and the closing of the summer transfer window was a Week 3 of Premier League action which saw a few familiar faces returning to the EPL, a nine-goal thriller and Tim Howard taking on Chelsea’s Spanish contingent. Neil Warnock and Wilfried Zaha marked their returns to Crystal Palace with an exciting 3-3 at St. James Park against Newcastle United. Palace had gotten Warnock’s 2nd reign at Palace off to a great start when they took the lead at the 30-second mark before trading leads with Newcastle. In the 5th of 7 minutes of added time Zaha knock home the tying goal after coming on as a sub in the 70th. Palace and Newcastle weren’t the only teams to net three on Saturday. Nathan Dyer scored either side of a well taken Wayne Routledge volley as Swansea City beat West Bromiwch Albion to remain unbeaten. Southampton came back from a first half Mark Noble goal to beat West Ham 3-1 thanks in part to two goals from Morgan Schneiderlin, giving Ronald Koeman his first Premier League win. The most excitement of the day came at Goodison Park where Everton fell to Chelsea 6-3. Everton were down 2-0 in the first five minutes but got themselves back into the game just before the end of the first half. In the second half Chelsea twice extended their lead to two goals only to see Everton cut it back to one before they finished it off with goals from Ramires and Diego Costa (the latter earning the ire from USMNT goalkeeper Tim Howard...
